Telescopic leveler

The loading dock leveller with telescopic lip is equipped with a retractable lip that enables safe and efficient unloading, even when the load is positioned at the edge of the vehicle. Thanks to its extendable or telescopic lip design, the lip reaches further than a hinged lip standard dock leveler, providing a more secure connection with the vehicle.

This solution is specifically designed for environments where both internal and external thermal insulation are critical factors, ensuring optimum performance under demanding conditions and improving efficiency in logistics operations.

Leveler type: Telescopic dock leveler, with optional segmented version.

Load capacity: 6.000 kg dynamic load (standard) or 15.000 kg in reinforced configuration, with custom manufacturing options available.

Main application: Facilities with strict temperature control and precision logistics requirements.

Thermal resilience

Guaranteed operation within temperature ranges from -20°C to +50°C.

Hydraulic system

1.1 kW motor (1.5 HP) with double lifting cylinder and emergency safety parachute valve.

Structure

Chequered steel platform with 8 internal IPN 120 beam reinforcements, ensuring maximum durability and preventing structural deformation.

Telescopic lip configurations

Standard telescopic lip

Retractable projection of up to 500 mm or 1.000 mm.

Segmented lip

Divided into three sections to safely adapt to trucks of different widths.

Chamfered lip

Tapered tip design for versatile insertion into different types of vehicles.

Finishes and protection

Micro-textured powder coating

Anti-slip and environmentally friendly finish (RAL 9005, 7011, 5010).

Hot-dip galvanizing and stainless steel

For high-humidity environments or facilities with strict hygiene requirements.

Operation and use of the telescopic dock leveller

Lifting and positioning

1

Lifting and positioning

By keeping the RAISE DECK button pressed, the platform moves from the rest position to the raised position until the required loading height is reached, above the trailer bed level.

Precise lip extension

2

Precise lip extension

Unlike hinged lip models, the operator extends the telescopic lip independently to the required length (500 or 1,000 mm), making it possible to reach loads positioned at the very edge of the truck.

3

Support and automatic levelling

Once the lip is positioned on the vehicle, the dock leveller lowers by gravity and automatically follows the truck’s suspension movements during loading. This pit design with side recesses allows the truck doors to be opened from inside the building.

Automatic support leveling

4

Retraction and safe return

Once operations are completed, the lip retracts telescopically before the leveler returns to its rest position. This system prevents accidental impacts and enables a tight closure of the dock door behind the leveler.

Safe retraction return

Benefits and operational return

Greater precision when resting on the vehicle

Makes it easier to unload goods located at the far edge of the trailer without additional manoeuvres.

Better adaptation to different vehicle types

A highly suitable solution when trucks with different lengths, heights or docking positions operate at the same dock.

Greater reach than a hinged lip

The telescopic system can reach points that a conventional lip cannot, making connection easier in more demanding operations.

Ideal for misaligned vehicles

When the truck is not positioned exactly or docking varies, the telescopic lip provides greater adjustment margin.

Cold and temperature-controlled facilities

Its precision in vehicle contact helps optimise manoeuvres at docks where access control and operational efficiency are especially important.

Greater dock versatility

Allows a single dock to handle a wider range of vehicles and logistics requirements.

Telescopic dock leveler maintenance

Lubrication of the telescopic system

Keep the guide rails clean and properly lubricated to ensure smooth movement of the secondary cylinder.

Structural inspection

Visual inspection of the 10 tubular reinforcements to confirm there is no deformation after impacts.

Precision hydraulic circuit

Check sealing integrity and oil levels, with particular attention to the solenoid valve block.

Technical safety

Verification of the emergency parachute valve and the limit switches of the extendable lip.

Frequently asked questions

  • How does an extendable lip dock leveler work?

It operates by raising the platform through a hydraulic system and extending the telescopic lip in a controlled manner until it rests on the vehicle bed. Once supported, the platform follows the truck’s height variations during loading and unloading, maintaining a safe and stable passage.

  • What advantage does the segmented lip offer?

It allows the same telescopic dock leveler to adapt to different truck widths. When only the central segments are activated for narrower vehicles, safe support is ensured without causing structural damage.

  • What are the advantages of a telescopic lip dock leveler compared to other dock levelers?

Its main advantage is that it provides more precise contact with the vehicle, greater lip reach and better adaptation to different loading situations. This improves manoeuvring safety, facilitates forklift traffic and gives the dock greater versatility.

  • What type of vehicles is it suitable for?

It is a particularly suitable solution for docks handling vehicles with different heights, lengths or body configurations. It is also highly useful when the fleet is not homogeneous and a dock leveler capable of adapting more precisely to each manoeuvre is required.

  • When is a telescopic lip more suitable than a hinged lip?

It is more suitable when working with different vehicles, when the truck does not always dock in the same position, or when more precise support on the vehicle bed is required. It is also a better option for intensive dock operations or applications with more demanding technical requirements.

  • Is it suitable for intensive use?

Yes, it is a solution especially recommended for docks with a high vehicle turnover and continuous loading and unloading operations. Its precision, reliability and adaptability make it highly suitable for demanding logistics and industrial environments.

  • Can it be installed on an existing dock?

Yes, in many cases it can be installed on an existing dock, provided that the civil works and available space allow the pit or support structure to be properly adapted. For this reason, it is a common option in dock renovation or modernization projects.

  • How much does a telescopic dock leveler cost?

The price depends on factors such as dimensions, load capacity, lip length, level of automation and installation conditions. For this reason, the most advisable approach is to assess each project individually according to the actual dock operation.

Insulated dock shelters

Ensure maximum thermal sealing by closing the perimeter around the truck.

Smart dock

Optimizes telescopic dock leveler installation and reduces civil works time.

Protective bumpers

Protect the dock structure from impact during vehicle approach.

Dock equipment accessories

Facilitate perfect vehicle alignment with the dock leveler axis.
